Cowbridge pub organises Marie Curie bike ride

By Contributed Item in Charity

Here’s a date for your diaries: Sunday, August 27 (Bank Holiday Sunday).

Locals from the Edmondes Arms pub in Cowbridge will be holding a fun bike ride to raise funds for Marie Curie Trust, Holme Tower hospice, Penarth,. The event gets underway at 10am from behind Cowbridge Town Hall.

Everyone is welcome. Please join us and ask your friends to come along too. If cycling isn’t for you, then please donate, sponsor a friend or join us in the afternoon (at the Edmondes) for barbecue, festivities and an evening auction with some fantastic lots and, of course, some live music.

Our cause? We’re cycling to remember our dear friend Kevin Barry whom we lost to cancer last year.

The Marie Curie Trust meant so much to Kevin and his family, just as they do to so many others. All our lives will be affected by cancer in some way and this is one small step to help Marie Curie continue their wonderful service until a cure can be found.

The route? From Cowbridge Town Hall to the Edmondes Arms, but the hard way.

The route will take you via Corntown, Ewenny, Ogmore, St Brides, Wick, past Llantwit Major and St Athan, then Llancadle, Bonvilston and finally back to Cowbridge. All in all about 30 miles.

The costs? For entrants to the bike ride, we’re asking for a (voluntary) £20 per person by way of donation to Marie Curie Holme Tower hospice. Its really up to you.

The important bit: you can donate at the Edmondes Arms (anytime), with the tin-rattlers on the day, or by visiting our JustGiving page: www.justgiving. com/fundraising/Edmondes-Bike-Ride.

Look for the flyers displayed around many of the stores around Cowbridge and mark August 27 in your diary. It will be great fun all in aid of a great cause.
