Porthcawl RFC under-13s cap off season with trip and awards!

By Contributed Item in Rugby

To celebrate the end of a fantastic season, Porthcawl RFC under-13s travelled to Exeter to watch the Chiefs play Northampton Saints.

The boys and dads enjoyed spending time together watching the game and getting competitive at the bowling alley!

The highlight of the tour was our game against Topsham under-13s. To say the boys’ performance made the coaches proud is an understatement.

Adapting swiftly to the English rules they played three 20-minute games. An hour of fantastic effort and hard work culminated in a score of 45-5 to Porthcawl against a team who had been defeated only once all season.

The presentation evening stepped up a gear this year; with the boys approaching junior age it was up to the coaches to select individual trophies for player of the season and most improved player.

Those who know us will recognise this was a very difficult decision, but, nevertheless, Ollie Sadd and Bud Morgan Pellett thoroughly deserved the recognition, as did Ollie Tottman who was awarded the player’s player award.

Nathan Bennett would like to thank the boys, the club and all the families for such dedication this year as well as Anthony for supporting with the coaching and John our medic.

He would also like to thank Kevin for holding quizzes at the Ancient Briton and donating the money to buy hoodies and polo tops for the boys.

We are looking forward to going from strength to strength next season, have a safe summer boys!
