Bridgend’s Roger Willcox saw his Patricktom Boru beaten by just over a length by Dabinett Moon in the Ladies’ Open Point-To-Point Championship Final Hunter Chase at Stratford last Friday.

Patricktom Boru, who was made the 5-2 favourite, was ridden by Welsh champion Jodie Hughes and although missing out on the first prize of £6,239, Mr Willcox still collected £1,935 for finishing second.

Twenty-four hours later at Stratford, Sean Bowen son of Welsh trainer Peter Bowen landed a double with Forever My Friend trained by his father and Dream Bolt trained by Dai Rees.

At Chepstow on Saturday, Grace Harris who trains far from the racecourse, had plenty to smile about when her Grams And Ounces ridden by TJ Murphy scored at odds of 16-1.

Welsh-speaking jockey David Probert from Bargoed was in good form at Haydock, winning on Handsome Dude and Absolutely So. The former was an 8- shot and the latter was returned at odds of 6-1.
