Local councillors’ DIY bench tidy

By Philip Irwin in Local People

Two local councillors lost patience last weekend after two benches on the Eastern Promenade, Porthcawl, were reported to be heavily overgrown.

There was considerable comment on social media in the town, asking how the grass cutters employed by Bridgend County Borough council (BCBC) had missed the benches, which were heavily overgrown.

Steve Maitland-Thomas and Chris Wintle, both newly-elected councillors on the East Central ward, were out at 6.30am on Saturday, May 13, and the GEM can confirm that the benches are now foliage free.
